Welcome to Junior Secondary at Cooktown P-12 State School for 2020! We are excited for an amazing year at Cooktown P-12 State School, and are hoping to emulate the fantastic work that students and teachers achieved in 2019.
At Cooktown P-12 State School, we are passionate about student success, and acknowledge the essential role that parents/guardians and the community have in that success. In 2020 we are wanting to amplify that success, by continuing to promote the strong connections between home and school.
Below is a letter that was sent home in week 1 with few initiatives that we will be rolling out in 2020, and outlining the process for contacting the school.
At Cooktown State School P-12, our Junior Secondary Program aligns with the Australian Curriculum. The subjects we offer in Years 7 and 8 fulfil the QCAA time allocations and entitlement for implementing the Australian Curriculum. In Year 9 all students must study English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Health and Physical Education. Prospective students in Year 9 also have the opportunity to select subjects (electives) that Cooktown State School P-12 elects to offer based on student interest, physical resources, and human resources.
